Varsity Softball · Lady Hornet Softball Persists Through the Weather to Clench Bi-District Championship

East Central Softball weathered a scare by MacArthur in the first inning, but our Lady Hornets still won 11-4 on Saturday, securing the Bi-District series win to advance to Area.
The Lady Hornets secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the third inning courtesy of Jordyn Lopez, Lorena Gamez, Aviana Martinez, and Isabella Vidal each adding RBIs in the frame. In the third Lopez grounded out, scoring one run, Gamez singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, Martinez drew a walk, scoring one run, and Vidal tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.
Our Lady Hornets were met with another weather delay roadblock, however, during the bottom of the third inning, having to wait over two and a half hours to resume play. Nevertheless, our girls stayed strong and returned to play to take care of business.
Holly Ayala was credited with the victory for East Central. The righty went seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out five and walking zero.
Our Lady Hornets racked up 11 hits. Martinez, Marisol Vargas, and Vidal all collected multiple hits for East Central.
The East Central Lady Hornets will continue their playoff run this Friday in a one game standoff against Round Rock High School. The time and location of this game are still being determined, but we will update everyone once the details are set. Please congratulate these athletes on their hard earned victory! As always, your continued support is greatly appreciated.
