Your EC Lady Hornet Softball team had an impressive spring break, winning both games: defeating New Braunfels 2-0 and Hondo 17-0.
Holly Ayala didn’t allow a single run against New Braunfels, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Lady Hornets to a 2-0 victory on Tuesday.  Ayala was the winning pitcher for Lady Hornets. She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out three and walking zero.
Lady Hornets got on the board in the second inning. MacKenzie Dugi’s sac fly scored one run.
Alexis Barrientez, Marisol Vargas, Lourdes Bacon, and Dugi each collected one hit to lead EC.
Celeste Gonzales had all the right stuff on Thursday for East Central, allowing zero runs and besting Hondo by a score of 17-0
Lady Hornets secured the victory thanks to 12 runs in the first inning. Gonzales, Erin Villela, Lourdes Bacon, MacKenzie Dugi, Veronica Garcia, and Marisol Vargas all drove in runs in the frame.
Gonzales got the win for EC. She lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out two and walking zero.
Lady Hornets hit one home run on the day. Leah Gonzalez had a four bagger in the second inning.
EC saw the ball well, racking up ten hits in the game. Vargas and Kayla Gonzales all had multiple hits for Lady Hornets. Gonzales and Vargas each managed two hits to lead the team. Vargas led EC with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases. Lady Hornets was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Villela had the most chances in the field with two.

JV won both of their games this week as well, defeating New Braunfels 8-2 and Hondo 16-2.
