Boys Varsity Basketball · Hornet Basketball Season Ends Too Soon

The Hornet basketball season came to an end on Tuesday night versus Bowie.  The shots were not falling for the Hornets in the first half which lead to a 21 point deficit. With a warrior mentality the Hornets mounted a ferocious comeback getting steal after steal and defensive stop after defensive stop.   The lead was cut down to 2 points with 3 mins left in the game.  The crowd on Hornet’s side was amazingly engaged, and you could feel the tense and nervousness on the Bowie side.  Deigo Mendez showed the heart of a champion after scoring 22 points, all which seemed to come in the 4th.  He hit back to back to back big shots and willed us into the game.  T’vonsi Hubbard also contributed with 19 points.  However, two missed layups off steals late in the fourth led to gig Bowie free throws. Bowie would seal the game at 78-69.

EC Coaches and players want to take the time to thank you who supported us this season.  The support we received this season has been the greatest to date! You all showered us with love and support and those boys played hard for you!  In defeat our boys discovered that you can never give up, that the fight must continue and in doing so you may learn the most important lesson in life. Fight to the bitter end even when the odds are against you and you will discover that you will be rewarded with the opportunity to fulfill your dreams.  Sometimes you fall short but the lesson was there! WE ARE EC PROUD!  Those of you who had a chance to experience the game with us hopefully saw the PRIDE OF A HORNET TO THE BITTER END!
