Hornets News · Hornet Basketball Downs New Braunfels

Hornet Basketball went to New Braunfels on Friday and came home with a BIG win 75-71.  (#ECAthleteShoutout to the EC Tennis Teams for showing up to the game after their matches and supporting us with some very much needed EC chants.)  The game started with the Hornets taking the 10-0 lead before the New Braunfels was able to work their way into a lead. The game would go through repeated lead changes and would come down to the 4th quarter.   The Hornets were led by Jonathan Ochoa with 20pts which included big shots and clutch free throws as the fourth came to an end. He was assisted by Sean Godley whop had 14pts who also hit a big 3 after a big offensive rebound in the last minute of the game.  Hornet defender Austin Jimenez was put in charge of shutting down Unicorns leading scorer in the final minutes of the game and completed the task with great success while holding him to a single 3 point basket in the last 2 minutes of the game.   Big stops and some clutch free throws closed out the game and the win. The victory set up the Hornets for a big game on Tuesday the 4th against Smithson Valley with second place in district on the line.  Tuesday is staff appreciation and the basketball team would love to see you all at the game to show our thanks.
