Girls Varsity Basketball · Lady Hornet Finish Strong at Champions Classic

The Lady Hornets finished the weekend at the Champions Classic with a 3-2 records. Outstanding effort throughout the weekend highlighted a stretch of games that required the ladies to pull together and rely on teammates to get the job done.

In their first game on Friday the ladies took on a tough Beaumont United team. They came up short, losing 49-38. Strong contributions came from Deja Jones who racked up 24 points and Zayda Rodriguez who drew a charge.

The second game Friday also ended in the oppositions favor as the Lady Hornets fell to Edison. Statistical leaders included Brandy Castillo with 19 points, Deja Jones with 3 assists and 6 rebounds, and Taylor Douglas grabbing 4 steals.

Coming back Saturday the Lady Hornets had a morning match-up with Tomball Concordia Lutheran. Saturday proved to much better of a day for the Lady Hornets as they came away with a 43-39 win. Alanis Macias lead the way with 21 points, Mya Mackey had 3 assists and 7 rebounds, Deja Jones registered 5 steals, and Leilani Prado drew 2 charges.

The ladies will return to action on the road Tuesday with a special 130 tip time as they take on Brandeis.
