Hornets News · Volleyball Opens Tournament Season at Harlandale ISD

The Lady Hornet volleyball team, lead by head coach Kelly McDaniel, kicked off their tournament season today at the Harlandale ISD Tournament with 2 wins.

The day started with a win over St. Anthony. In that first game the Lady Hornets were paced by Seniors Maddie Strzelczyk and Molly Polasek who had 21 assists and 12 digs respectively.

The second match up of the day also resulted in a win, this time over the Queens of Del Rio. Cheyenne Dantonio and Nicole Pruski had solid defensive outings with 2 blocks a piece. Maddie Strzelczyk continued to have a solid tournament registering 19 more assists and 2 aces. McKynna Moxley also registered 2 aces.

When asked about the day Coach McDaniel complemented the progress that has been made since day one of camp. “Our girls were able to show up today after a long practice on Thursday night that focused on our team dynamic. When we walked in the gym today, I knew that the girls were starting to get more comfortable with each other. In both matches that we played today our energy was through the roof. I’m so proud of how they’re forming and growing as a team.”

Make sure you get out to see the ladies take on Holmes at 9am on Saturday morning. A win puts them in the championship game at 1:30 pm. If you can’t make it out to support the ladies make sure to follow the action on twitter @ECVB2019. #WeAreEC #HornetPride #ECProud #Ohana
