Boys Varsity Baseball · Baseball Opens Up District With Shut Out Victory Over San Marcos

On a cold Tuesday night the Hornets of East Central High School opened up district play against San Marcos high school. In what was also the home opener the Hornets displayed a little bit of everything. Junior Matthew Luna would toss a complete game shutout that included a NO-HITTER! The Hornet offense gave Luna the lead early, scoring early and often in each inning except the fifth. Offensively the Hornets were led by senior Jason Mascorro, Damion Gonzales, Nevan Smith and Taylor Neil each of whom had two hits to their credit including a solo home run off the bat of junior Nevan Smith. The Hornets would go on and defeat San Marcos by a final score of 10-0 in only six innings as the run rule came into effect. The Hornets take a step in the right direction and improve to 9-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in district play.
